February Big Picture Outlook: Not so Fast There, Bulls!

What does last November’s election, the Tyson vs Jones fight, and Walmart all have in common and why should I care?  These seemingly unrelated topics are a sampling of what “we” were most focused on in the month of November (per top internet search trends) and together these top trends can tell us a whole lot about what to expect in the coming month.   For instance, general news themes and likely stock market movement.

As previously described in last month’s video, the mood for January was expected to be primarily hopeful and optimistic (bullish), however in this case the pattern is bullish exhaustion.   People are so ready for things to get better that they are going overboard in their enthusiasm.  Markets will go up in a bullish exhaustion pattern, but this can’t be sustained.  February will be the fallout of this over-exuberance as old challenges persist and new ones surface.
