Summary of Expanding Leading Diagonals

Leading diagonals, similar to ending diagonals, can also be of the expanding variety.  Expanding leading diagonals typically appear in the wave 1 position of an impulse and the a-wave position of a zigzag. Each wave should ordinarily subdivide into three wave structures, yet in rare instances, waves 1, 3, and 5 may consist of five wave structures. These patterns are generally followed by a deep retracement to the 0.618 or 0.764 Fibonacci levels. Compared to contracting leading diagonals, expanding leading diagonals are considered rare.
